Just a quick post, as I haven’t posted for a while.
The reason I haven’t posted is that I made the best of my 2 days of childcare the last two days. I finally made some music. It’s small steps, and I needed some sort of tangible goal. There is a great website called Indaba.com which often holds remix competitions, which allows you to download the stems of a song and then make your own. Then you can upload it and see if anyone else likes it!
I had initially wanted to get it finished in one day, but it took two, along with Thomas coming home early on Friday. He had a bad cold, and was feeling a bit sorry for himself. (He’s fine now!). It was good to go through the various stages of creativity, including the one where you decide it’s a pile of rubbish and you are not going to bother with it any more. Luckily, I was able to pull it back and after the kids were in bed, I spent 3 hours finalizing it and got it uploaded. It is important to get used to being able to make something in a short time. This will hopefully become more efficient as I get better with the software. I’m mostly using Logic Pro 8, and occasionally Ableton Live (which is a total enigma to me still).
I could go on and on about the actual work, and the bits of it that make me cringe, but actually, there’s a Harry Potter on the tele, which I’d like to get back to!
Here it is:
I will post it on Facebook once the voting starts, so it’s fresh in everyone’s mind. I think voting starts on March 9th, but I will be sure to remind you! Hopefully this is the first of many – they make for good exercises.
